For example, in our procedure room we can heal spinal compression fractures with kyphoplasty – our surgeon drills a hole into the vertebrae and blows a balloon into the vertebral body, which is then removed and filled with cement. For 90 percent of patients, this restores height and greatly reduces pain in accident injury patients, or older patients with osteoporotic fractures.

That being said, we are fully equipped to handle almost any joint or spinal surgery.
Our orthopedist treats fractures, soft tissue tears and joint instability, but we always begin with low intensity spinal adjustment, medical physical therapy and cortisone injections or facet blocks. These techniques are rungs on the ladder of wellness, and our goal is to keep you as low on it as possible.
Spinal surgery and joint replacement are the top of the ladder, but you won’t get there before we’ve climbed every rung.
For those with chronic joint pain, arthritis or acute injury, we have a variety of orthopedic measures that can help you recover.
Cortisone injections, which can stop pain at the site of an injury. They can also lead to the healing of a joint in certain patients.
Hyaluronic acid is produced in the human body around the synovial joints, and is commonly used in plastic surgery to bring fullness to tissue. We use it for our patients dealing with osteoarthritis in the joints to provide pain relief by giving injections once a week for about five weeks, and replacing the synovial fluid that is thinned by aging.
State of the art Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections tap into your own system to reboot your healing computer; we offer you the same treatment now used at Emory. How does it work? With a sample of your own blood, we create a highly concentrated platelet lubricant and inject it into ripped or injured soft tissue.
Patients with PRP can actually experience the healing of their tendons and other soft tissue.
Our orthopedist will work with you to decide which of these are injections may be right for you. All of these are complemented by medical physical therapy to rehabilitate and strengthen your joints.
